Start with the full professional identity

Ask for the clinician’s full name, professional license number (cédula profesional), specialty, and the location where care will take place. Make sure the person you research is the person who will actually perform the procedure.

Check the professional license and specialty

Use the SEP professional-license service to check registered qualifications. For a medical specialist, use CONACEM’s directory to investigate current board certification through the appropriate specialty council. These are different checks; one does not replace the other.

Verify the facility and the scope of its certification

Ask for the exact legal name and location of the facility. Consult the CSG list for current certification where applicable. A logo on a website is not proof of a current certificate, and one location’s certification does not automatically apply to every branch.

Ask for information you can keep

Request a written treatment plan, the responsible clinician’s contact details, an itemized quote, and arrangements for records and aftercare. If credentials cannot be independently confirmed, resolve that before booking.
